Back in the Saddle

Hi Guys! (or maybe just the far corners of the internet)

I have been super busy with work the last month. We have been on fires in New Mexico and Arizona. I finally had a couple days off! I forged ahead on my Cowboy quilt and made some awesome progress.

I am so proud of myself for basting a quilt without needing any help! This is a first for me and I am very happy.

Then I had to quilt it. There has been a lot debate over how I was going to do this. I have only ever quilted in the ditch. But if I did that this this quilt I would have very little actual quilting. So the nice ladies and 35th Sew and Vac and Erica from the Sewing Asylum convinced me to do cross-hatching. I was skeptical at first, but now I love it.

View from the back. I found this amazing Alexander Henry fabric from Goodwill!

I feel like I am in the final stretch! Hopefully I can do another 14 days at work and come back and finish the quilt on my two days off. We shall see what the fire season has planned!

Thanks so much to Erica! None of my sewing this summer would have taken place had it not been for her.
